Oral mech exams allow speech-language pathologists to see how your articulators move independently of and during speech. Some of the steps include imitating mouth actions, like blowing a kiss or wagging your tongue. 👅 😚
Oral mech exams also measure DDK, or diadochokinetic rate. This test asks the client to repeat sounds as quickly as possible in different configurations. These sounds include, “puh,” “puh-tuh,” and “puh-tuh-kuh.” 🗣
